'Ghosts' is a loaded term. There are definitely spirits all around us.
most 'hauntings' are residual hauntings. That means it's excess energy left behind.
That's why you see so many hotels, funeral homes, hospitals, nursing homes, etc. with paranormal phenomena.
Those are places where people are usually very stressed, sad, or happy. That energy stays behind and will cause sounds, knocks, footsteps, etc.
Intelligent hauntings are where the spirit will interact with the humans.
I have seen both.
I work as a psychic medium, and I can assure you that there are spirits everywhere.
I saw one just last night.
